UC-RP Combat

Combat - The focus and reason of the UC-RP (UC stands for Universal-Combat.) When the UC-RP system was first made I had only one goal for it. A simple balanced system using scales to determine a characters attributes against other characters. The goal hasn't changed even though the system has come a long way since researching many different kinds of popular RP systems both in real life and on the web. All of my experience and opinions on RP have slowly filtered and refined into this site. This site in itself was like me running a net through the vast ocean of thoughts in order to catch something tangible and understandable. Anyway, here's something I've been meaning to make and put up for ages, an altered combat system designed to promote smooth fluent RP combat with emphasis on character over power. These combat systems are designed with sheet users in mind, though there is no restriction on their use.

Rule number one.
The first, and most important rule is: If there is a valid RP reason to ignore the sheets, then ignore them. If all parties involved in a fight are fine with something then its fine. When all the parties involved agree there is no problem. A character performing some unbelievable act of strength through courage or self sacrifice, with the agreement of the target should be considered the absolute. This system is after all based on good roleplay NOT constant pointless combat. (Though it only covers the combat right now. 9__9)

Rule number two.
No matter what bad blood passes in character, never let it pass out of character. This is meant to be fun, most people are in it to make friends not enemies. If you cant agree, then agree to disagree and leave it at that. If a dispute does come up over who's character is stronger or has more energy go to the sheets, don't think numbers, think fractions of more or less. One single basic stat point is not enough to completely overpower the opponent all the time unless they only have 1 in that stat to begin with. Think of it like the numbers are a scale If you have 3 points in speed, and your opponent has 4 then they're slightly faster, if they have 6 then they're twice as fast, 9 is three times as fast which is a way overpower situation. (Though they will be likely weak in other areas to make up for this huge advantage.) Keep things like speed and energy in mind when you fight. If your enemies faster, dodging becomes more difficult and you have to be smarter about it. If your enemies stronger or totally more powerful then you need to be smarter and have more tricks up your sleeve.

Rule number three.
Remember, that before any fight: Reach a common ground on which fighting system to use. When somebody starts doing turn based descriptive against a speed fighter there is a conflict and more than likely an OOC one should the people not be willing to bend to each others needs. Not everybody can speed type on an ultra fast connection, not everybody believes that a fight can be slow if its well told and descriptive.
