Levels
and character advancement.
Like all systems there has always been a recommended way
to advance characters. Because the majority of users in
this system are out of a GM'ed environment though I thought
it may be best for me to post up the advancement system
here for all to read. Remember the system will only work
through trust and OOC honesty. Pumping your character
full of fake levels will just get you ignored.
Here's how it works.
Once a week a player may say. 'hmmm I think this
character has earned a point.' They speak with other players
and find out if their point is valid. Then once its agreed
that it is they get a witness and walla they level up
from 24 (The starting point number.) To 25!
List this as your characters level and now you have another
base statistic point to spend. You may save up to 4 Base
statistics points as a time in order to purchase a single
advanced one. As you may have guessed, your level is equal
to the number of points spent on your character. (Base
points) Remember that points earned through leveling may
not be spent during combat. Only Fate points may be
spent during combat or other activities which is what
makes them so valuable.
The maximum achieved level for most characters
is 30, however if people in the RP agree a villan
type character may be put on a higher level to acomidate
so many strong hero characters.
Plain energy combat.
When using plain 'Energy' attacks try some simple things
to liven the fight up.
All beams have types, Cutting, blunt and explosive.
Like paper, scissors and rock.
Blunt is a beam or shape that will bash through something
and propel them away, its blunt bulk means it beats Cutting.
Explosive will explode on impact in an outward propulsion
of kinetic force, it beats blunt attacks most of the time
this way.
Cutting is designed to cut through things rather than
bash or blow them up. It cuts through the explosive force
to strike the target beyond it.
To create a stronger attack in energy combat, spend turns,
or post charging it up. Spending several attacks to make
one large one is the best way to make an attack stronger.
(Be sure to label the charging up posts for people who
can detect power and the target to organize a hasty defense
or retreat.)
Attack base, and combination powers.
When in doubt remember that your attacks are based on
statistics. The formula I'd suggest is the two base statistics
combined with the single Advanced power number. This is
proven to work out well. Example: If your Str:2 and your
Spd: 3 Then you have a total of Five. However if your
using an advanced power you get the additional number
from that on top. Advanced power points (Single) are worth
roughly 5 times basic stat points. This means that trying
to defeat an advanced stat with base stats alone is hard.(Imagine
trying to dodge bullets as an ordinary person type hard.)
Str+Spd= Physical attack base.
Spd+Dex= Ranged attack base.
Wlp+N-E= Magical attack base.
Str+WlpX5= HitPoints. (Hit-points are a rough
example of how much abuse your character can take before
TKO.)
When in doubt, use your common sense to determine which
category something fits into.
Also remember that often you can use your advanced points
to help each other. Like a magic user combining a spell
with a sword attack for extra effect. Sometimes this will
be the only way to better a stronger opponent.
