Darkness magic example tree.
Darkness and light are two sides of the same coin. Neither a true element on their own but both somehow linked to the mana. Darkness though, is older than light and will outlast light in the end. Therefore it has a much stronger effect. Darkness is empty and the magic is based on what the mind imagines in the emptiness.

1 Point darkness magic.

Blind
(Bless/Curse)
A curse passed through touch, it renders the target blind. This spell works through rendering the brain of the target unable to interpret the incoming optical signal. It wears off after time, or cure such as eyedrops.

Dark
(Bless/Curse)
The targets sense of hope is annihilated by touch. It renders them incapable of believing in both themselves and the future. Reducing their willpower to 0. A character affected by this will often weaken themselves and be unable to overcome the opponent.

Fear
(Summon Elemental Spirit)

Fear summons from the shadows of the targets mind things that they fear. These fears become living creatures which creep out of a living darkness around them. Normally twisted into even more fearsome shapes. The target is normally overwhelmed not by the fear's strength but by the fact that they are rendered so afraid that they cannot fight back. Their willpower becomes their only real fighting stat. The creatures themselves are easily destroyed by others.

Shadow catch
(Ethereal creation)
A dark spike shot from the casters hand pins the targets shadow to the ground or a wall. The target is frozen in the shape it was in when the spike hit. The effect ceases to work when the spike is removed or the shadow is removed by a change in light.

2 Point darkness magic.

A still darkness covers the battlefield. This darkness is difficult to move and imbeds the fighters in a dream like state where things they know true aren't. Often warriors and other fighters of reality are the worst effected by this having difficulty moving let alone landing a blow. How well a character can resist is determined by their willpower.

Still darkness
(Summon Elemental Spirit)
Strands of darkness reach from the shadows and wrap themselves around the target, holding them down until the target is totally engulfed. Once engulfed the strands try to weave themselves into the being making them a slave to the caster's wishes. Their willpower determines their ability to resist.

Tether
(Ethereal creation)
The target of the spell has their life force altered and sped up so as to start draining on all natural energies around them. Magic near them drains rapidly, when that runs out they begin to show signs of an effect similar to starvation. Weakness, illness, low stamina etc. The targets Natural energy stat is how they resist.

Consume
(Bless/Curse)

3 Point darkness magic.

Empty
(Bless/Curse)
Passed by touch this curse causes the target to become hollow of energy. The target feel ill, their being becomes drained of color and they are unable to use magic or energy. It wears off after time or when the character is able to fill themselves through cure or idea. The target of this spell is also considered to be under the 'dark' curse.

Terror
(Summon Elemental Spirit)
Similar to the fear summon this summon reaches into the minds of all those it targets and creates a much stronger force of nightmares. It can summon monsters as large as skyscrapers and as small as mice, it fills the battlefield with such terrors which are often very formless. Unable to be discerned from the darkness without staring straight at them. Thus letting your mind grant them form.

4 Point darkness magic.

The area around the fighters involved and the entire battlefield becomes dark, the characters visible only by their inner light. As the void closes it can trap with it anyone not able to find light within themselves to fight it. Entire armies could be swallowed up and vanish without a trace forever. Needless to say the spell is totally draining on the caster and is always considered the end of the battle. In the dream like void... who can say.

Void
(Summon Elemental Spirit)
Are there elements beyond nothing?
Darkness.
